It’s completely fine to be honest, but the formula is:

pick a weakness that is not related to the job + share what you’ve been doing to improve

In other words give them something that doesn’t really matter. You answered their question honestly, but it won’t have a negative impact on you.

For example, if you’re applying as a graphic designer, you wouldn’t say that your struggling with creativity and resourcefulness, right? Maybe you can say it’s challenging for you to speak in front of a large crowd, since public speaking isn’t really an important skill as a graphic designer. Your answer might be like this:
“It’s been challenging for me to speak in front of a large crowd. I happen to have stage fright, but I’ve been improving myself to be confident and comfortable doing public speaking. In fact, I’m currently enrolled in an online class about it. So far, learning has been great and I’ve been practicing answering random questions with the whole class.”
