Answers will vary depending on role/responsibilities. For perspective, I am able to conduct a majority of my work from my cell phone.

Laptop specs really vary depending on the type of work you’re doing. Here are a few suggestions:

For basic freelance work that doesn’t need so much multi-tasking, 4gb of RAM and CPUs of at least Intel i3 would be better.
For freelance work that needs intense multitasking then at least 8gb of RAM is recommended and at least Intel i5 works.
For those freelance work that needs vivid and clear pictures and videos, like graphic designing and video editing, then a graphics card is also recommended.
