Being very subjective is a concrete way to turn down a salary raise without hurting anyone’s feelings. Such as Identifying individual or company goals that have to be met before salary raises can be expected.
As an employer it is good practice to set expectations for staff. This way employees have a goal to work towards, and the company is able to monitor growth of it’s team members.
